Lawyers on Demand (LOD), a Consilio company, is assisting a global financial institution in seeking a Commercial Contracting Attorney to join its legal team on a long-term engagement. This role is ideally based in New York City and will operate on a hybrid schedule, though fully remote candidates may also be considered.

Role Details
  • Start: ASAP
  • Duration: 12+ months
  • Hours: Full-time (40 hours per week)
  • Location: Hybrid in New York City (3 days onsite preferred, flexibility available); fully remote candidates will also be considered
  • Pay Rate: Starting at $125/hour, commensurate with experience

Key Responsibilities
  • Negotiate and manage:
    • Master Securities Forward Transaction Agreements (MSFTAs)
    • Account Control Agreements (ACAs)
  • Work directly with counterparties to facilitate agreement execution and resolution of contractual issues
  • Collaborate closely with Business, Credit, Treasury, Collateral Management, and Legal teams to obtain approvals on non-standard contractual provisions
  • Analyze and communicate legal and commercial risks associated with proposed agreement changes
  • Coordinate stakeholder feedback and provide practical recommendations to business teams
  • Track negotiations, approvals, and outstanding issues through internal status management tools
  • Support ongoing contract management and documentation processes

Qualifications
  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, in good standing
  • Experience negotiating and drafting complex financial services agreements
  • Familiarity with derivatives, securities financing transactions, collateral arrangements, structured products, or related financial instruments preferred
  • Strong understanding of risk analysis and contract negotiation within a regulated financial services environment
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple negotiations simultaneously
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Preferred Experience
  • Experience negotiating MSFTAs, ISDAs, GMRAs, GMSLAs, ACAs, or similar trading and collateral agreements
  • Prior experience supporting investment banks, broker-dealers, asset managers, or other financial institutions
  • Background working with treasury, collateral management, or credit risk functions
