Information about the business and team?
Our client is one of the world's leading investment management firms, specialising in fixed income, active asset management and alternative investments on behalf of institutional and individual investors globally. The business has a significant real estate investment arm with approximately $85 billion in assets under management and operates a highly international model, with close collaboration between teams in London and the United States.

What does the client need help with?
The Chief Compliance Officer requires interim support whilst the business recruits for a permanent hire. The lawyer will provide coverage for a global Anti-Financial Crime role while leading the delivery of a strategically important AML project that is due to go live in January 2027.

What will the role involve?
This is a senior Anti-Financial Crime subject matter expert role with a global remit, focused primarily on leading the implementation of a significant AML transformation project.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the implementation of an AML project in line with new EU regulatory requirements
  • Acting as the primary AFC subject matter expert during the project period
  • Driving delivery of the project roadmap through to go-live
  • Working closely with Clifford Chance on regulatory implementation matters
  • Developing and implementing AML policies, procedures and controls
  • Enhancing AFC and AML risk assessment frameworks
  • Partnering with stakeholders across London and the United States
  • Providing strategic guidance across the full spectrum of anti-financial crime matters

What skills do they need?
We are looking for a senior anti-financial crime lawyer or compliance professional with significant experience across AML and broader AFC matters within asset management, real estate investment or wider financial services environments. They will have strong expertise in the implementation of complex regulatory projects and a detailed understanding of AML frameworks and evolving EU regulatory requirements. Experience operating within international organisations and advising stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions is important, as is the ability to work independently and provide strategic guidance on anti-financial crime matters. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills are essential.
