Information about the business and team

Our client is one of the world's largest banking and financial services organisations, serving retail, commercial, and institutional clients across global markets. The lawyer will join a legal team supporting the retail wealth and private banking business, providing legal advice across a substantial credit and lending portfolio.

What does the client need help with?

The team requires interim support to cover a maternity leave absence and is seeking an experienced credit lawyer who can start as soon as possible and operate with a high degree of autonomy in a busy lending environment.

What will the role involve?

This is an opportunity to support a leading banking business, with a particular focus on credit facilities and lending documentation within the retail wealth and private banking division.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the credit business on a wide range of lending and transactional matters
  • Advising on Lombard lending and the associated facility documentation
  • Managing the set-up of facilities and supporting the full lifecycle of lending arrangements
  • Reviewing and advising on requests for consents, amendments, and waivers
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and new products
  • Instructing and managing external counsel where required

What skills do they need?

The successful lawyer will have at least 3-4 years' PQE and a strong background in credit and lending transactions. They will have experience handling transactional matters and be comfortable managing a varied workload with minimal supervision.

Experience within a banking or financial services environment is highly desirable, particularly supporting lending businesses and advising on credit documentation. Knowledge of MCOB requirements would be beneficial but is not essential.

The lawyer will be able to work autonomously, build strong stakeholder relationships, and provide clear, practical legal advice in a fast-paced commercial environment.
