Senior Legal Counsel - Construction Substantive Legal Experience
Legal Staffing
Feb 9, 2026
Our client, a leading low carbon energy generator, require senior legal support to manage a complex recontracting phase after terminating a major EPC contract.
Existing contracts for main civils, panel supplier, mounting structure and transformers are largely recontracted, but many smaller components and grid-related works remain. This has created an immediate need for a senior construction lawyer to support continuity of works, minimise commercial and programme disruption, and use strategic judgment on contract rights and considerations.
What the role will involve:
Directly supporting the ongoing recontracting efforts for two early-stage construction projects, covering principal contractor and designer appointments, supplier contracts and grid works.
Working closely with the construction and procurement teams to provide hands-on legal support in an evolving project landscape.
Designing and delivering the new contracting structure to enable direct engagement with the supply chain for both works and components.
Flagging risks, constraints and strategic alternatives to the construction team to optimise timing, cost and project continuity.
Advising on securing supply in light of existing contractual rights, obligations and associated risks following the EPC contractor’s withdrawal.
Drafting, negotiating and finalising construction, supply, services and related agreements needed for the new project structure.
Skills required:
Senior construction lawyer (5+ PQE) with strong experience in solar, battery or other renewable energy projects.
Deep expertise in construction contracting, supply chain structures and restructuring delivery models.
Proactive, commercially astute and comfortable working independently.
The role is full-time for 6-months, with an initial 2 days per week working from the Northampton office.
