The Role
Our client, a leading law firm, is seeking a mid-senior financial services regulatory lawyer with strong experience in superannuation, funds management, and financial services regulatory law. This role focuses on non-contentious financial services regulation and provides the opportunity to help clients navigate an increasingly complex and rapidly evolving regulatory landscape, including emerging regulatory reforms impacting the sector.

This FSR team is recognised as a market leader across key legal directories:

• Tier 1 – Fintech and Financial Services Regulatory (Legal 500 Asia Pacific)
• Band 1 – Financial Services Regulation (Chambers Asia Pacific)
• Band 1 – Fintech Legal (Chambers FinTech Guide)

The practice is dynamic and growing, offering exposure to high-quality advisory work and collaboration across a close-knit national team and global client network.

Key Requirements

  • At least 3 years’ post-admission experience gained in financial services regulation within private practice, an in-house legal team or a relevant regulatory body.

  • Experience advising on one or more of the following areas: payments regulation, financial crime, consumer credit, retail and wholesale banking, prudential regulation, financial accountability regimes, or digital assets.

  • Strong academic credentials and an unrestricted Australian or New Zealand practising certificate.

  • The ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering high-quality work within tight timeframes.

  • A genuine interest in building client relationships and contributing to the growth and reputation of the practice.

  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to supporting the development of junior team members. An innovative and forward-looking approach, including curiosity about artificial intelligence and emerging legal technologies.
